C-A-L Ranch Stores plans grand opening celebration

C-A-L Ranch Stores is holding a grand opening for its new store in Ammon on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.

The new store, with 70,000 square feet of retail space, is located at 1027 S. 25th East (Hitt Road) next to Walmart. The building more than doubled the square footage of its location at 665 E. Anderson St.

C-A-L Ranch also is building a 30,000-square-foot office space on Curlew Drive, behind the new store, to serve as corporate headquarters for the 26-store company.

A Greater Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at 11 a.m. Friday.

The first 100 customers on Friday and Saturday will receive a free pet toy. Saturday also features a stick horse rodeo from noon to 2 p.m. for children ages 2 to 12.

Hot dogs and soda will be available for 25 cents from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday.

Prize drawings will be held throughout the three-day event.

Mayor honors Idahoan Inc. and Kyäni Inc.

Idaho Falls Mayor Rebecca Casper on Wednesday recognized Idahoan Inc. and Kyäni Inc. for working together to produce Potato Pak, a fortified potato-based meal that is delivered to impoverished children and families throughout the world, according to a news release.

In 2016, Kyäni Caring Hands, the philanthropic organization created by Kyäni founders, provided more than 1.1 million servings of Potato Pak throughout the world.

To date, Kyäni Caring Hands has delivered Potato Pak to dozens of impoverished communities throughout the world, both where there is ongoing need as well as in the case of natural disaster.

Tuff Shed opens Idaho Falls location

Tuff Shed Inc. has opened a sales and design center at 3780 S. Yellowstone Highway, just south of Sunnyside Road, in Idaho Falls.

Founded in Rexburg in 1981, Tuff Shed’s products include wooden backyard storage sheds, larger commercial storage buildings, garages and cabin shells, a company news release said. The company works with its customers to design and accessorize buildings, then pre-fabricates key building components at its manufacturing facilities so it can deliver and install buildings on the customer site. The company has designed, fabricated and installed more than 900,000 buildings, and will surpass the one million mark this year, the release said.

CHS Bingham Cooperative

wins environmental award

For the second year in a row a CHS Bingham Cooperative has been named a state-level winner of the Dupont Environmental Respect Award.

CHS Bingham Cooperative’s Blackfoot location is the 2017 state winner. The co-op’s American Falls location won the honor in 2016.

The Environmental Respect Awards program, now in its 27th year, exists to “encourage and honor excellence in stewardship, educate retailers and distributors around the world on safe business practices, and promote environmentalism in agriculture to the industry and to the general public,” its website said.

“The dealers and distributors who are honored with Environmental Respect Awards have displayed outstanding initiative and are shining examples of what it takes to make the world a safer, cleaner place in which to live and work,” the website said.

Eclipse 2017 informational meeting is July 26

An informational meeting for residents and business owners/managers in Bonneville County will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. July 26 at the Civic Auditorium, 501 S. Holmes Ave.

Attendees will be able to learn about the eclipse and how to prepare for the opportunities and challenges of the large influx of visitors. As many as 500,000 tourists could visit eastern Idaho for the Aug. 21 eclipse. Attendees will hear from city and county officials about public safety plans, traffic and communication. They also will hear from an astronomer.

Following the presentations, there will be an opportunity or questions and answers.
