Accident leads to big drug bust in Fremont County

The Fremont County Sheriff’s Office found more than 10 pounds of marijuana Wednesday morning after searching a car that had slid off of Highway 20 at mile point 356 in Fremont County.

A sheriff’s office news release said deputies could smell the drugs when they arrived at the scene. The driver had a suspended license and was arrested. No one else was in the car.

The car was towed and searched after deputies had a warrant. They found 84.4 grams of methamphetamine and 10.23 pounds of marijuana. The sheriff’s office refused to release the name of the suspect, saying more information would be released after the suspect was charged.
