Bank of Idaho CEO earns cyber-security certification

Jeff Newgard, Bank of Idaho President and CEO, traveled to Denver this month to attend courses and test for certification in the CompTIA Security+ program.

This certification gives a strong base of knowledge in several areas of cybersecurity, including threat management and security infrastructure, a Bank of Idaho news release said.

Newgard’s certification, paired with his involvement with the Independent Community Bankers of America’s Special Committee on Cyber-Security, means that his perspective on the subject matter includes the most current information in both industry-specific implementations and more global applications, the release said.

“By having a stronger understanding of the technology and processes, I am better prepared to work with our IT leadership to ensure we take the right steps to protect the bank, and more importantly, our customers” Newgard said in the release.

Zions’ Eppich honored with ‘Best Foot Forward’ award

Troy Eppich, Zions Bank’s financial center manager in Blackfoot, received the 2017 “Best Foot Forward” award Nov. 16 at the Greater Blackfoot Area Chamber of Commerce President’s Dinner at the Shoshone Bannock Hotel and Event Center.

The Greater Blackfoot Area Chamber of Commerce presents the award annually to someone who has gone above and beyond in their support of community events in the area, a bank news release said.

“Troy is a very community-minded individual and goes out of his way to be involved in the various volunteer activities and opportunities in Blackfoot and surrounding areas,” Merri Johnson, Eastern Idaho Wyoming Region president for Zions Bank, said in the release.
