Hospital participates in TeleICU program

As part of an ongoing partnership with University of Utah Health, Madison Memorial Hospital in Rexburg announced its participation TeleICU, a new intensive care cooperation with the Salt Lake City hospital.

TeleICU is a telecommunications program provided by University of Utah health that provides rural hospitals with access to intensive care experts at university medical facilities.

“We know patients and their family members don’t want to travel while dealing with health care crises,” Gordon Crabtree, CEO of University of Utah health, said in a news release. “Because of this agreement, health care professionals at Madison Memorial will be able to access this resource when needed.”

The program allows intensive care patients at Madison Memorial to communicate with doctors at University of Utah Health via video conferencing or by telephone to discuss the patient’s condition and discuss further course of treatment.

Both organizations emphasize the agreement does not change ownership, local control and governance, or restrict patient choice in providers.
