Maltese CrossFit boasts new facility

Basham

Maltese CrossFit, a staple of the Idaho Falls fitness community for nine years, has moved into an expansive new location.

It opened the doors to its new 10,000-square-foot facility at 3899 S. American Way on Oct. 31.

The gym held its grand opening ceremony Dec. 30.

Sam Harmer and his wife, Becky, are co-owners of Maltese CrossFit. According to Harmer, the new gym is a significant upgrade from the previous location.

“We are the largest CrossFit facility in southeast Idaho,” he said. “It’s straight dedicated to CrossFit.”

The CrossFit community has embraced the new amenities and environment in the new gym as well, Harmer said.

“They have all been very receptive of it,” he said. “People will come in and, after class hang out, for two or three hours. We have a large counter, places to sit, and people bring along their friends and kids. It’s definitely a family friendly atmosphere.”

Maltese CrossFit holds nine classes daily, along with open gym times. Membership prices range from $75 to $115 a month with no contracts. The first class is free to try.

The Idaho Falls Civitans club is recruiting new members to join its community based service organization.

In what is described as a “seek event” by Civitan member Natalie Hebard, the Idaho Falls chapter of Civitan International will host a recruitment gathering from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Feb. 15 at the Pinecrest Event Center, 560 E. Anderson St.

The event is an opportunity for the Civitans to promote the organization and its recent charitable activities, Hebard said.

Civitan members will be present and introduce the club’s goals and projects and to answer any questions.

The event is being held in cooperation with several business leaders and the Greater Idaho Falls Chamber of Commerce. But Hebard says it’s not exclusive to the business community.

“We want to invite anyone affiliated with the Chamber of Commerce, or not,” she said. “Anyone willing to help the community.”
