Douglas Pape

Douglas James Pape, 67, of Blackfoot, passed away October 27, 2017, at Bingham Memorial Hospital.

Douglas was born June 19, 1950, in Menominee, Michigan, to Kenneth Norman Pape and Elizabeth Delores Werptney Pape. He grew up in Menominee, and attended Hamilton Grade School, St. Anne’s Middle School and graduated from Menominee High School. He also attended Northern Michigan University & earned his Bachelors degree.

Douglas was raised as a Catholic, worked as a Lutheran Minister for a while, before being converted to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Douglas made his home in Blackfoot, Idaho, where he worked as a construction contractor.

His children were his greatest accomplishment. He enjoyed cooking, gardening, fishing, camping and the Green Bay Packers. He loved his job, especially building large homes.

Douglas is survived by his daughter, Trisha Pape of Appleton, WI; daughter, Jamie (Jorden) Albert of Appleton, WI; son, Tyler Pape of Menominee, MI; son, Jason Pape of Menominee, MI; daughter, Mahogany Pape of Menominee, MI; daughter, Katerina Pape of Blackfoot, ID; daughter, Ashlie Pape of Idaho Falls, ID; stepson, Zachary Nelson of Watoma, WI; stepdaughter, Madonna Nelson of Blackfoot, ID; stepson, Gabriel Nelson of Idaho Falls, ID; brother, Dale Pape of Idaho Falls, ID; sister, Kathleen (John) Daniel of Green Leaf, WI; sister, Judith (Joe) Hansen of Wasilla, AK; sister, Debra (Tim) Henessy of Pocatello, ID; brother, Kenneth (Theresa) Pape of Pocatello, ID; sister, Sheila Denton of Pocatello, ID; brother, Patrick (Teressa) Pape of Pocatello, ID; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Donald, Dennis, Darrell and Dean and his sister Roseann.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, November 2, 2017, at the Coltman LDS 2nd Ward, 12448 North 5th East, with Bishop Myron Creager officiating. The family will visit with friends from 1 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. prior to services at the church. Burial will be in the Ririe-Shelton Cemetery.
