Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center and the March of Dimes organization are teaming up to help premature babies and their moms.
According to a hospital news release, registration begins at 9 a.m. Saturday for the March for Babies 5K Walk. The fundraiser starts at Snake River Landing, 901 Pier View Drive, No. 104. The walk begins at 10 a.m.
While there is no registration fee, hospital spokesman Nathan Miller said donations are welcome. Money can be donated at the event or online at tinyurl.com/MoDdonations.
Annie Miller, the March of Dimes community director for eastern Idaho, said the organization hopes to raise $50,000 through donations, sponsorships and promotions.
“All of the money that is raised will be pooled together, and primarily, it will go to research into premature births and care for small infants,” Miller said. “It also will go to some organizations that help uninsured pregnant women get the care they need.”
After the walk, participants and community members can take part in EIRMC’s Family Fun Day at Snake River Landing. The event, which runs from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., will feature bounce houses, carnival games and treats. Miller said there is no charge to attend the Family Fun Day activities and donations to the March of Dimes will be accepted during that event.
