If you’re a little bit country and a little bit rock ’n’ roll, then you’ll probably like the concert offerings at this year’s Eastern Idaho State Fair.
The Eastern Idaho State Fair board announced the featured acts during a presentation Tuesday at I.E. Productions in Idaho Falls.
Concert headliners are country band Big &Rich and the classic rock act, Creedence Clearwater Revisited. The fair, scheduled from Aug. 30 to Sept. 6. at the fairgrounds in Blackfoot, 97 Park St., also will feature other entertainers, including a magician and hypnotist.
Big &Rich, which first hit the charts with the single, “Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy),” will perform Sept. 4. Creedence Clearwater Revisited, will take the stage Sept. 5.
Creedence Clearwater Revisited features Stu Cook on drums and Doug Clifford on bass. Cook and Clifford are original members of Creedence Clearwater Revival, a rock group popular in the late 1960s and early ’70s. The band’s hits included “Have You Ever Seen The Rain,” “Proud Mary,” and “Lodi.”
Concert tickets start at $39.
Fair General Manager Brandon Bird said the tickets are good for admission to both concerts.
Board members feel the bands will complement each other nicely.
“Big &Rich is a country band, but they have a lot of rock influences,” Bird said. “A lot of people know CCR, while they’re a rock band, they have a bit of a country feel to them. We thought this would be a great way to attract as many people to the concerts as possible.”
Other acts include Dan Sperry, a magician who was featured on “America’s Got Talent” in 2010. Sperry will perform Sept. 3 and Sept. 6.
Hypnotist Richard Barker will perform two shows each day of the fair.
General admission tickets are $6 for adults, $2 for children, from 6 to 11 and $3.50 for seniors, 65 and older. Tickets can be purchased online or at Vickers Western Store, 2665 N. Holmes Ave.
