The Idaho Transportation Department announced construction on U.S. Highway 20 in Island Park starting Monday.
Crews will resurface a 12-mile stretch of highway between Island Park Lodge and the Montana state line, according to an ITD news release. The project is scheduled for completion in August.
Travel will be reduced to one lane during construction, with flaggers directing traffic through the work zone. Motorists should expect delays.
Drivers should watch for construction workers and equipment, and obey all traffic signs.
Commercial drivers transporting permitted loads wider than 14 feet need to contact resident engineer Wade Allen at (208) 745-5680 or staff engineer Bryan Young at (208) 745-5682 48 hours in advance of travel for special authorization to pass through the construction zone.
The transportation department awarded the $2.7-million contract to HK Contractors Inc., of Idaho Falls.
Drivers can check travel conditions at 511.idaho.gov or by dialing 5-1-1.
In a separate press release, ITD officials said all highway construction projects will be suspended from Thursday to July 5.
