A doubles disc golf tournament is offering some healthy payouts for winners in each of its four divisions Saturday.
As long as the weather holds, Saturday’s doubles tournament could be a prime day to throw some discs at Freeman Park. Weather.com predicts a high of 62 degrees with zero percent chance of rain.
The 18-hole course will have expanded baskets. Disc golfers will play 27 holes, keeping track on their scorecards to be submitted after the tournament. A map of the holes can be found at tinyurl.com/n2yuxcr.
Teams with the lowest score in each division will win gift cards to the sponsor, Infinite Discs, and payouts from a cash pot.
Registration begins at 8:15 a.m. and costs $20 per person or $10 for South Fork Disc Golf club members. Teams will begin playing at 9:30 a.m. in a shotgun start.
Winners in each of the divisions — ranging from women, intermediate, recreational and advanced — will receive payouts from the respective registration pools. The Disc Golf club added $350 to the overall pot.
Club member Paden Henson said in an email that the tournament is great for newer players and the different divisions offer an even playing field for both new and advanced players.
