U.S. Sen. Mike Crapo on Monday announced the names of 44 Idaho students whom he nominated to the nation’s military academies, including some from eastern Idaho.
James Maguire of Rexburg and Damien Stonhill of Ammon have been nominated to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y. Christopher Salcido of Idaho Falls has been nominated to the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, Md. And Daniel Barclay of Sterling has been nominated to the U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, Colo.
Each year U.S. senators and representatives make nominations to the academies. If these students are accepted they will start in the 2018-2019 academic year.
“By pursuing higher education in one of these academies, these students demonstrate their strong commitment to service and country,” Crapo said in a statement. “I congratulate each individual on their nomination and have every confidence in their leadership and academic skills as they continue to represent Idaho long into the future.”
Those wishing to apply for future nominations should call Karen Roetter in Crapo’s Coeur d’Alene office at 208-664-5490.
