Several local college students were among the winners of a business competition earlier this month.
The students were taking part in an initial “Pitch-Off” competition for the Idaho Entreneurship Challenge, sponsored by U.S. Bank and the Idaho State University College of Business’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Economic Development, on Dec. 7. Second-place winners included Ashlie Wolf of Rigby and Alicia McKerigan of Shelley, who got $1,000 for their proposal. Third-place winners included Monica Seedall, Lisa Cecil and Katie Jane Robinson, all of Idaho Falls, who got $500 for theirs.
For the next step of the challenge, the student groups will submit their business plans, formal applications and a video pitch to judges in Boise. Students from schools throughout the state will present their business ideas for an innovative product or service.
“The first annual Pitch-Off was a smashing success,” Jeff Street, director of the Center for Entrepreneurship and Economic Development, said in a statement. “The consensus of the judges was that the students were an amazing and inspiring group of young people.”
