Otter appoints Ehardt to District 33 house seat

Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter today appointed Idaho Falls City Council member Barbara Ehardt to complete Janet Trujillo’s unexpired term in the Idaho House of Representatives.

Trujillo recently resigned from her third term representing Idaho Falls in the House after Otter appointed her to a vacancy on the Idaho State Tax Commission, a Governor’s Office news release said.

Ehardt, who lost a Dec. 5 runoff election for Idaho Falls mayor to incumbent Rebecca Casper, was among three candidates submitted by the District 33 Republican Legislative Committee to complete the House term that runs until December 2018. The other two nominees were father-and-son attorneys Mark and Paul Fuller.
