An Iona man was arrested Saturday after he reportedly beat a 6-year-old boy.
Sean Ryan, 32, was charged with injury to a child, a felony punishable with up to 10 years in prison.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Ryan punished the child by “repeatedly spanking him with a wooden spatula, pushing him to the ground and then kicking him in the face, slapping him on the face and then spanking him again all before making him take a cold shower.”
Photos of the victim in Ryan’s case file depict purple, red and black bruising on his face and buttocks. The victim initially told his mother the injuries came from a fall out of bed. The victim also told police he did not yell for help because he was scared and because the beating “hurt too bad.”
