With Christmas fast approaching, last-minute holiday shopping can be done at the Art Museum of Eastern Idaho.
The Art Museum of Eastern Idaho, 300 S. Capital Ave., features three art exhibits. The museum is open from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesday to Saturday, excluding Thursday when it is open until 8 p.m. Admission is $4 for adults, $2 for youth and students with ID, $10 for family and free for children under 5. ART Idaho is the museum’s 10th biennial juried competition. The exhibit displays various works from artists across the state.
In the Corridor Gallery, artwork from The Colored Pencil Society of America, District 217, is displayed.
In the Studio Gallery, ARTmart, the museum’s annual shopping event, takes place, featuring original art by the museum’s artists.
Olde Fashioned Christmas and Winter Festivals
The Museum of Idaho’s annual exhibit Olde Fashioned Christmas and Winter Festivals runs from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The exhibit features Santa Claus figurines, nativities from various cultures around the world, gingerbread houses and decorated Christmas trees. The exhibit doesn’t focus only on Christmas; it also explores different global holiday traditions. Admission is free. The museum is open from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday and Tuesday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday to Saturday. This exhibit is open until Dec. 30 and will be closed Christmas Day. “Santa’s Magic Key”
Barnes and Noble hosts a holiday story time at 11 a.m. at 2300 E. 17th St. The featured book is “Santa’s Magic Key” by Eric James, which tells of a young boy who questions how Santa will enter his home without a chimney.
