I.F. SWAT team deployed to apartment on Ridge Avenue

Members of the Idaho Falls Police Department SWAT team prepare to enter an apartment on Ridge Avenue on Saturday.

An incident at the corner of W. 13th Street and S. Ridge Avenue in Idaho Falls Saturday afternoon required several local police officers to intervene.

Holly Cook, public relations and public information officer for the Idaho Falls Police Department, says there were reports from neighbors of a man who went into the street and threatened his significant other and another individual. The man was also reported as suicidal.

An Idaho Falls Police SWAT team arrived on the scene shortly after the report, and around 4:30 p.m. entered the apartment but found the location vacant.

The man’s whereabouts are unknown at this time.

During the raid, the Idaho Falls Police Department asked residents nearby to stay in their homes and remain out of the area, due to the unknown circumstances of the situation.

“We want to thank the community in the area for their patience and for taking the necessary safety precautions to secure the scene,” Cook said.

Cook adds that if any person may have seen the incident or knows the whereabouts of the individual that they contact the Idaho Falls Police at 208-529-1200.
