Letter to the editor: Spendthrifts

Spendthrifts

Received May 28

I agree with Shelton Beach of Blackfoot (letter to the editor, April 23) that we should never have invaded Iraq and Afghanistan. It’s as bad in the Middle East as ever.

Though it was mostly a NATO operation, former President Bill Clinton had a heavy hand in the senseless and illegal invasion of Yugoslavia in 1999. That was OK?

If it isn’t troops our government sends abroad, its money. Despite dire needs here at home for natural disasters, education and health care, the spendthrifts in both political parties send aid to Egypt, the Syrian rebels and Pakistan, where it’s likely to be intercepted by Al Qaida. Now, they’re ready to aid the Ukraine, where corruption there could likely soak it up.
