Disappointed in Mortimer
Received Feb. 27
I am disappointed in the “no” vote last week by State Senator Dean Mortimer on the Idaho Science Standards.
The debate seemed to center around global warming, and man’s influence on it. I understand 100 percent of those testifying before the committee were in favor of the science standards as written, but Sen. Mortimer still chose to vote against them.
This is particularly troubling to me since Sen. Mortimer is the chairman of the education committee and comes from Idaho Falls, a city with more scientists and engineers per capita than probably any other city in Idaho.
Perhaps Sen. Mortimer should not be the chair of the senate education committee. Perhaps he should not even be on the education committee.
