If you’re one of the unlucky ones who didn’t purchase tickets to the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour, there’s good news and bad news.
The good news is you have one more chance to snag some good seats for the Jan. 25 show. The bad news is that there’s only a handful of seats left for the two-night show.
The film festival originates in Banff, Alberta. Each fall, hundreds of filmmakers submit their work for the competition. Winners are chosen, and from those winners a group of films tour the world. A selection of films will be chosen from that batch for Idaho Falls viewers. A different set of films are shown the two nights in Idaho Falls. The films focus on mountain culture, adventure, action and travel. Audiences can expect to be thrilled, enlightened and informed.

Because the festival has become so popular — selling out the past few years in Idaho Falls — tickets go fast.
“Already both shows are over 70 percent sold,” Clarke Kido said Dec. 6, two days after tickets went on sale. Now there are less than 10 percent of the tickets left. Kido is the show coordinator for the Idaho Falls Nordic Ski Patrol. The patrol uses the show as its main fundraiser.
But the Post Register Outdoors section has 10 great tickets to give away to five lucky winners for the Jan. 25 show. Here’s how to win a pair: Email us a cool photo or video of you or someone else enjoying the outdoors. Bonus points go to people doing things in eastern Idaho or western Wyoming during 2017. Hint: People posing in front of stuff usually doesn’t win.
Send your high resolution photos and videos to Jeff Pinkham at firstname.lastname@example.org. Label your email “Banff photo contest” so we won’t lose it. Our deadline for this contest is Jan. 15. Winners will be announced in the Jan. 18 Outdoor section.
