Guide Boots Allen to speak at Snake River Cutthroats meeting

Longtime guide Boots Allen is the featured guest at the Snake River Cutthroats monthly membership meeting scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Shilo Inn in Idaho Falls.

According to a Snake River Cutthroats news release, Allen guides 140-plus days on the Snake River and Green River in Wyoming, the South Fork in Idaho and the waters of Yellowstone National Park. The release said he is a four-time high-scoring guide in the Jackson Hole One-Fly Contest, a top scorer in the Bass on the Fly tournaments in eastern Idaho, a custom fly-tier and a writer whose work has been published in several regional and national fly fishing magazines.

Safari Club International to host fundraiser

The Idaho Chapter of Safari Club International will host a hunters’ banquet Jan. 27 at the Shilo Inn Convention Center, 780 Lindsay Blvd.

The event is a fundraiser to “protect your right to hunt and support local conservation projects,” according to a Safari Club International news release.

The event will feature a dinner, a silent auction, a live auction and raffles. All youth (16 and under) receive a free gift, and are entered into their own drawing for guns.
