5A/4A football: Conrad powers Tigers to first win

Following back-to-back losses to start the season, the Idaho Falls Tigers (1-2) got one in the win column Friday with a 43-14 rout of the visiting Jerome Tigers (2-1) at Ravsten Stadium.

Idaho Falls scored on its first drive of the game and pulled away in the second quarter, scoring 21 to take a 28-7 lead into halftime.

In all, Idaho Falls scored 36 unanswered after giving up a first quarter score, dominating both sides of the ball.

Idaho Falls got rushing touchdowns of 22, 11 and 6 yards from junior tailback Cameron Conrad.

Todd Payne and Aaron Gravelle added rushing touchdowns for I.F., and Noah Hillam finished out the scoring with a 12-yard strike from quarterback Cannon Thompson.

“Our running game was working with Cameron and those guys doing a great job and the offensive line showing what it can do,” Idaho Falls coach Pete Molino said. “Then we just manned on defense them up and let our defensive players prove they were the better athletes.”

Next up for the Tigers is a road game at Pocatello on Friday.
