Six local teams headed to state semifinals

Six eastern Idaho teams are still standing as the Idaho high school state football playoffs head into this weekend’s semifinal round.

The action begins at 4 p.m. Friday when Butte County travels to Cambridge to face Tri-Valley in a 1A Division 2 matchup. Third-ranked Tri-Valley, a co-op between Cambridge and Midvale, is 9-0 while Butte County is 8-1.

Next up is the 2A matchup between Firth (7-3) and New Plymouth (7-2) at Holt Arena. Kickoff is set for 5:45 p.m.

Finally Friday is a 4A matchup between second-ranked Skyline (9-2) and fourth-ranked Middleton (8-3). The teams play at 7 p.m. in Middleton.

Saturday begins with a 3A showdown between second-ranked Shelley (8-1) and top-ranked Fruitland (10-0). Kickoff is 1 p.m. in Fruitland.

Next up is a 1A Division 1 game between fourth-ranked Challis (8-2) and top-ranked Genesee (9-0) at 2 p.m. at the Kibbie Dome.

The weekend concludes with another 3A matchup involving Snake River (6-3) and third-ranked Gooding (9-1) at 2:45 p.m. at Holt Arena.
