Darrell Miller, Jr., and Robby Rinn were named to the Pioneer League’s Postseason All-Star Team on Wednesday, per an official release on the league website.
Miller, who entered Wednesday’s game versus Grand Junction with a league leading .393 batting average and league leading on base percentage of .470, was honored as a designated hitter while Rinn, who leads the league with 131 total bases and is tied for second in RBIs (54), was honored as a first baseman.
The two’s selection to the Pioneer League All-Star nominations must’ve rubbed some good luck on the Chukars Wednesday night at Melaleuca Field.
Idaho Falls beat Grand Junction 6-4 behind 12 hits and in front of 1,598 fans.
All of the Chukars’ damage came in the second, third and fourth innings, as Miller, Offerman Collado, Chris Hudgins, Amalani Fukofuka and Matt Morales all had two hits in the win.
Morales also had four stolen bases.
Brewer Hicklen went 1 for 5 but made the most of his one hit, blasting a home run in the third inning.
Janser Lara (4-2) was given the win, striking out seven batters in six frames. Andrew Beckwith picked up the save, only allowing three hits in the final three innings.
Idaho Falls is 28-38, 11-17. Grand Junction falls to 34-32, 16-12.
The Chukars return home today for game two of four against the Rockies. First pitch is at 7:15 p.m.
