Idaho Falls continue to roll late in the season, defeating Grand Junction 16-5 at Melalueca Field Friday night in front of 1,921 fans.
It’s the Chukars’ third-straight win, as they advance to 30-38 overall and 13-17 on the second-half of the season. They are currently six games behind first-place Ogden and Orem with eight games left on their schedule.
The Chukars’ offense showed up early and often Friday night, tallying a run every inning until the bottom of the eighth.
The Rockies did not score a run until the top of the ninth.
Lead-off hitter Matt Morales led all batters by going 4 for 6 at the plate for four RBIs.
Other notable performances were Logan Gray, who went 3 for 5 for three RBIs. Travis Jones also went 3 for 4 for two RBIs.
Jones, Gray and Darell Miller Jr. all hit home runs in the win, as the Chukars notched 19 hits.
David McKay (5-5) received the win, striking out eight batters in seven innings pitched. He only allowed five hits.
