In their final game of the season, the Idaho Falls Chukars defeated the Ogden Raptors 17-8 at Lindquist Field.
The Chukars finish their season 33-43 and in seventh place in the Pioneer League standings. It’s the second straight season the Chukars have failed to make the Pioneer League playoffs.
Riddled by poor pitching throughout its season, Idaho Falls found success on the mound with Andrew Beckwith (W, 1-0) who struck out six batters and allowed just two hits in three innings pitched Saturday.
The Chukars’ hitting, one of their stronger components this season, continued at Lindquist Field. Tyler Straub finished 5 for 6 with two RBIs and four runs. Travis Jones finished 2 for 5 for three RBIs.
Robby Rinn — the Chukars’ 2017 MVP — went 2 for 5 for two RBIs in the win. Rinn led the Pioneer League with 100 hits in 69 games played. He batted .355 on the season.
Idaho Falls finished the second half of the season in last place in the Pioneer League South Division, going 16-22. Only the Helena Brewers (13-25) had a worse record during the second half. The Chukars will return to Melaleuca Field in 2018.
