Big Head Todd to perform in Ketchum

The rock band Big Head Todd and Monsters is scheduled to perform Aug. 1 at the River Run Lodge in Ketchum. The concert, scheduled for 7 p.m., is sponsored by The Sun Valley Center for the Arts.

Big Head Todd is a platinum-recording band that formed in the mid-1980s. Their most popular album was “Sister Sweetly,” which went platinum in 1993 and included the singles “Bittersweet,” “Broken-Hearted Savior” and “Circle.”

“Big Head Todd and The Monsters’ hit songs exemplify their blues-tinged rock feel, but what people might not know is that Todd Park Mohr, lead singer and guitarist for Big Head Todd, is still simply one of the best guitarists touring today,” Kristine Bretall, The Center’s Director of Performing Arts, said in a news release. “Their show will pull from their over 30 years of hits, and he’s known for throwing in some incredible covers — of Jimi Hendrix. If you haven’t seen Big Head Todd onstage, get yourself to River Run — you’ll be blown away by their live performance.”

Opening for Big Head Todd is the husband-and-wife folk-rock duo Shovels &Rope. Based in Charleston, South Carolina, Michael Trent and Cary Ann Hearst each enjoyed their own successful solo careers before releasing an album together in 2008.

Tickets start at $45 and are available at HaKq.

Cirque Italia ‘Aquatic Spectacular’ coming to I.F.

The Cirque Italia water circus will set up shop in Idaho Falls from Aug. 2-5.

According to a news release, the Aquatic Spectacular offers two hours of high-end entertainment.

“Beautiful aerialists dazzle and shimmer on a chandelier high above the ground, but they aren’t the only ones that will draw your eyes toward the sky. You can expect to see contortion in a bubble, a Venetian aerial duo, and even someone hula hooping while in the air,” the release said.

Cirque Italia will perform under a white and blue tent near Macy’s in the Grand Teton Mall parking lot. Shows are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Aug. 2 and 3, and 1:30 p.m., 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Aug. 4 and 5. Children’s tickets start at $10 while adult tickets start at $20.
