WILLARD, Utah (AP) — A Utah beekeeper has died after she was stung dozens of times by bees she kept in her backyard north of Ogden.
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of April Taylor’s death.
Zak Taylor says his 31-year-old wife was wearing gloves and a veil caring for the beehives last Tuesday when she came back to their house in Willard house with 30 to 40 stings.
He says she seemed fine and returned outside, but he later found her unconscious. They rushed her to the hospital, where she died on Friday.
Zak Taylor believes she must have been allergic to bees and didn’t know it.
KSLT-TV reports state entomologists are investigating. The Agriculture and Food Department’s Larry Lewis says it’s unlikely the bees were Africanized but they want to make sure.
