Investigation continues in fatal Casper crash

CASPER, Wyo. (AP) — The investigation continues into a crash that killed a bicyclist in Casper.

The Casper Star-Tribune reports that authorities haven’t yet identified the driver of an SUV that was involved in the crash last Thursday morning.

Thirty-nine-year-old bicyclist Matthew Harker was hit by the SUV on First Street while riding his bicycle in downtown Casper. Harker, a former Driggs resident, died of brain trauma at Swedish Medical Center in Denver on Friday.

Casper Police Chief Jim Wetzel says police took the SUV driver from the scene of the crash to Wyoming Medical Center.

Wetzel says blood and urine samples were collected from the driver to determine whether alcohol or other controlled substances were present in his system. Police don’t yet have the results of those tests.
