Mason |
During Kimball Mason's sentencing Tuesday, retired 6th District Judge William Woodland heard from six witnesses who spoke on behalf of the former prosecutor. One, federal Magistrate Judge Larry Boyle, said he came from Boise after being subpoenaed. Here's a recap of what Boyle and others said: Judge Larry Boyle, a former Idaho Falls district judge who presided over some of Mason's cases when Mason was Bonneville County prosecutor: I never had any reason to doubt (Mason's) words to me. I was impressed with his integrity." I have a great deal of compassion for him." I'm sorry for his family." Deputy Attorney General Jay Rosenthal, who prosecuted Mason: In my dealings with him, (Mason) displayed what I viewed as supreme arrogance and a level of disdain for the whole process."

This was basic greed that covered conduct over years and years." His life has been a lie. He misstated information to everyone he dealt with in our investigation." Kimball Mason: I have felt deep remorse over this matter. I apologize to the people of Idaho Falls and Bonneville County for the loss of trust. I acknowledge that (condemnations of me) are deeply deserved. The loss of (respect and admiration) is one that I'll never be able to regain."
