Goodfellow campaign starts today

By Roger Plothow

Could this be the year that the Goodfellow Fund surpasses $100,000?

After watching billions being spent on political campaigns this year, wouldn't it be a great thing to generate just a tiny fraction of that amount and give a total of $100,000 to three of eastern Idaho's great charities? We hit just under $94,000 last year, a new record, so the six-figure mark isn't out of reach.

Operating every year since 1931, the Post Register's Goodfellow Fund provides the perfect chance to pool our resources and make a difference to others.

Every penny of your donations goes to The Salvation Army, the Idaho Falls Community Food Bank and FAITH (Family Assistance in Transitional Housing). During the holiday season, starting today, Post Register reporters will be telling you stories about the good work these organizations do in eastern Idaho.

The campaign begins now and will run through just before Christmas. We try to make it easy -- just cut out the Goodfellow coupon in the newspaper and send or hand-deliver it to the Post Register with your check or cash. We'll follow the progress of the fund and frequently publish a list of contributors.
