Deputies from the Bonneville County Sheriff's Office collected evidence Sunday in the Saturday shooting death of an Idaho Falls woman.

Adan A. Arroyo, 22, of Blackfoot was arrested for murder Saturday in the shooting death of Kristy M. Aschliman, a 21-year-old Idaho Falls woman, authorities said.

The incident unfolded shortly before 1 p.m. Saturday, when Bonneville County sheriff's deputies responded to a call reporting that a woman had been shot on the 5100 block of East Lincoln Road.

Arroyo, 22, was found at a residence at 2000 N. 31st East and taken to the Bonneville County Jail, where he was being held Sunday.

Investigators still were trying to determine a motive for the shooting, Sheriff Paul Wilde said.

"We are trying to get everything tied together," Wilde said at 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Wilde said deputies were serving search warrants to gain access to vehicles and cell phones related to the crime.

Nobody but Arroyo had been arrested by Sunday afternoon.

Arroyo was not talking to deputies, Wilde said.

When deputies arrived on the scene Saturday afternoon, Wilde said they found Aschliman lying just off the north side of East Lincoln Road. Deputies and paramedics administered first aid but were unable to save the young woman's life.

Aschliman's vehicle was found about 50 yards farther east, Wilde said, stuck in the snow on the north side of the road.
