I.F. girls earn split against Utah teams
The Idaho Falls girls lacrosse team split a pair of home games Saturday at Taylorview Middle School.
The Eagles lost to Cache Valley (Logan, Utah) 12-8 before beating Davis County (Utah) 12-5.
In the opener, Ashtyn Mooso scored six goals to lead Idaho Falls, which was outshot 20-18. McKenzie Fife and Anne Marie McKnight also scored for Idaho Falls while Ashlyn Molino made eight saves.
In the second game, McKnight and Mooso each scored four goals to lead the Idaho Falls attack. Anna Kimbro added two goals, Fife and Jordan Lee also scored and Molino made 11 saves.
Idaho Falls varsity: The Idaho Falls Eagles dropped a pair of games April 20, falling to American Fork (Utah) 12-3 and 20-4.
In the first game, Hayden Walker, Kevin Heilig and Jordan Sparks scored goals while Walker and Chad McKnight had assists. Walker and Heilig each had five ground balls and forced two turnovers while Nick Carnazzo, Mc-Knight, Dillon Stone and Brian Dixon combined in the midfield for 13 shots, 18 ground balls and three forced turnovers. Dixon won all of his faceoffs while the defense of Austin Lutz, Alex Schoonen, Stephen Schoonen, Jordan St. John and Lane Nichols combined for 15 ground balls and four forced turnovers. Nichols made 15 saves in goal.
In the second game, Walker scored three goals while Heilig added a goal and an assist. Barret Nelson also had an assist while midfielders Dixon, Carnazzo, McKnight, Stone, Sparks and Nelson combined for 22 ground balls and three forced turnovers. Alex Schoonen and Stephen Schoonen combined for nine ground balls and forced six turnovers while the goalie duo of Jackson Wiser and Nicholes combined for three ground balls and 18 saves.
Idaho Falls JV: The Eagles fell to American Fork (Utah) 14-4 and Lehi (Utah) 10-3 on April 20.
Goals were scored by Brian Dixon (three), Tanner Ward (two), Austin Lutz and Cadin Curtis. Curtis (two), Ward, Barret Nelson and Kyle Williams had assists while AJ Fisher, Ward, Lutz and Williams combined for 23 shots, 21 ground balls and seven forced tunovers. Midfielders Dixon, Mark Lee, Austin Giannini, Nelson, and Brower combined for 18 shots, 20 ground balls and eight forced turnovers, while defenders Jordan St. John, Alex Schoonen and Stephen Schoonen combined for 21 ground balls and 16 forced turnovers. Goalie Jackson Wiser grabbed three ground balls, forced three turnovers and made 22 saves.
Idaho Falls seventh/ eighth grade: The Eagles improved to 7-1 on the season with a pair of wins Saturday in Hyrum, Utah.
Idaho Falls topped Box Elder (Utah) 8-3 in the opener behind two goals each from Max Grider and Joe DeKold. Wyatt Johnson and Ben Bernard helped the attack with a goal and assist each, Alex Assante and Charles Walline each added a goal while Keaton Schwartz (two) and Jon-athan Egan had assists. Dawson Thompson anchored the defense by forcing four turnovers while Assan-te and Egan led the team in ground balls. Dylan Kaasa (four saves) and Hayden Moss (two saves) split time in goal.
The Eagles followed that with a 9-6 win over Box Elder (Utah). Johnson and Schwartz led the attack with two goals and two assists each while Grider added two goals and an assist. Egan added two goals, Moss had one and Thompson (four forced turnovers) and Justin Mc-Intire (one forced turnover) led the defense. Kaasa (six saves) and Moss (eight saves) split time in goal.
