The Citizens' Law Academy is accepting applications for a free, eight-week class that explores the legal system.

Judges and lawyers from around the state will lead the class, which begins Sept. 25.

The class, sponsored by the 7th District Bar Association and the Idaho Law Foundation, covers all the essential aspects of the court system.

The Law Academy is open to anyone 18 and older. The application deadline is Friday.

Typically, 35 people participate in the academy each year and spots quickly fill up.

Presenters will include: former Dean of the University of Idaho School of Law Donald Burnett, Idaho U.S. Attorney Wendy Olson, Idaho U.S. Bankruptcy Judge Jim Pappas, U.S. 9th Circuit Court of Appeals Judge Randy Smith and Idaho Supreme Court Justice Joel Horton.

The class will meet in the Centennial Courtroom at the Bonneville County Courthouse, 605 N. Capital Ave. The class runs from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday nights. The last meeting is Nov. 13.
