Apple to host youth basketball camps
Barbara Ehardt, a former Division I women's basketball coach for 15 years, will hold her hoops clinics beginning next week. The 10-week session begins Oct. 11 and runs through Dec. 20. Public skate lessons are set for Saturday

S. Fremont forming new basketball team
The South Fremont boys basketball program is starting a competitive team for players in grades seven and eight. If you are interested, call SFHS Coach Ryon Pope at 421-1496 before Monday. For any parent who is interested in coaching or assisting, contact coach Pope ASAP.
Youth basketball leagues forming
The Idaho Falls Parks and Recreation Department is taking basketball registrations for the junior league and junior high league fall seasons.
Junior league teams range from first to sixth grade, with coed teams for grades one to three and gender-specific teams for grades four to six. The junior high leagues will be for players in grades seven and eight.
The entry fee for both leagues is $40, includes a jersey and is due before Oct. 10. For more information, visit www.ifrec.org or call 612-8480.
Michelle Kern 5K run is set for Oct. 12
The second annual Michelle Kern Memorial 5K run will be held on the Eastern Idaho Technical College campus at 7 p.m. Oct. 12. The twilight run will benefit the school's DECA program as well as the Michelle Kern Memorial Scholarship.
Three days after she graduated from EITC, Kern and her two young sons were murdered, and the following year the school and its DECA program organized the benefit run.
The cost for high school or college students is $15 with a student ID or activity card. Regular registration is $20 or $35 after Oct. 10. For information, call Michelle Ziel at 524-0464.
Firehouse scramble set for Sand Creek
Sign up now for the annual Firehouse 2-Man Golf Tournament at Sand Creek Golf Course on Oct. 13. The 9-hole best ball event will start at 11 a.m., and the tournament fee is $35 per man plus green fees. Call Sand Creek to sign up or for more information at 612-8115.
S. Fremont youth hoops camp coming
The South Fremont boys basketball program is holding a youth basketball camp for players from kindergarten to eighth grade Oct. 25, 26 and 27. Preregistration is $25 and includes a T-shirt. The preregistration deadline is Oct. 17. You can pick up a registration form at the front office at both the elementary and the junior high in St. Anthony, or you can call coach Ryon Pope at (208) 421-1496 to register by phone or if you have any questions. You can also register at the door for $30. All skill levels are invited.
