Money well spent

Received Nov. 18

We just finished the Idaho Falls election for the next mayor. I listened to all the candidates speak. Each one had something special to offer. It would be great if Mayor Casper adopted some of their fantastic ideas. Her goal is to make our community come together and grow stronger, right? It's nice to know that good ideas are not tied to one political party. Don't flush those ideas down the toilet.

Because no City Council candidate won 50 percent plus one of the vote, Idaho Falls will have a runoff election Dec. 3. This is going to cost $35,000. Wouldn't it be nice if they could forgo the runoff and use the money to help out in the community? That could be the food bank, new animal shelter, student tutoring or anything the candidates agree on. Wouldn't that be taxpayer money well spent? (Word count: 144)
