Locals take to national stage


Team Idaho posted a state-best eighth-place finish at the National Judges Cup State Team Challenge on Saturday, thanks in part to strong performances from three gymnasts from Idaho Elite Gymnastics.

Six of Idaho's top level 7 gymnasts, led by Idaho Elite Gymnastics coach Serguei Popov, finished eighth at the prestigious competition. Team Idaho had never before finished in the top 10 in the 23-year history of the event.

Idaho Elite Gymnastics athletes who made the trip were Sadie Livingston, Jennifer Branagan and Jaidyn Clement.

Livingston finished third in the all-around competition with a 37.80. Branagan finished sixth in the all-around, and Clement finished eighth.

One day earlier, the Idaho Elite Team participated in the National Jud-ge's Cup USAG Invitational competition, finishing with a score of 110.90.

Livingston took the the gold medal in the all-around (37.95) followed by Branagan's runner-up total of 36.70. Clement finished ninth (35.925), Aislyn Quick was 10th all-around (34.20), Megan Hiemer finished 14th (32.20), and Emma Hiemer was 15th (30.80).
