Weber sets Montana school record at Big Sky Championships


Hillcrest graduate Olivia Weber closed out her senior season with the best performance in University of Montana women's golf history.

Playing in the Big Sky Championships at the Ocotillo Golf Resort in Chandler, Ariz, Weber carded a 71-74-72--217 to earn all conference honors and break the school's 54-hole scoring record by two strokes.

It was also a personal best for Weber, besting a 219 she shot in September at the Montana State Invitational.

"All the pieces came together and culminated at conference her senior year," Montana coach Emily Milberger said in a news release. "It doesn\\\'t get any better than that. Her teammates got to see that, and now they know that it can all come together and that hard works pays off."

Weber had a stroke average of 76.9 during her senior season, lowering her career average to 77.8, second best in program history by 0.1 of a stroke.


Skyline grad Kyle Durbin finished a homer shy of the cycle Friday, going 4 for 4 with three runs, a double and a triple for Utah State-Eastern during a 6-0 win over Colorado Northwest. USU-Eastern is now 22-21

Representing Bonneville at the College of Idaho, Dylan Kowitz finished a four-game set against Con-cordia this past weekend with five hits and three RBIs over 13 at bats. The Coyotes are now 20-24.

Also from Bonneville, Lane righty Colben McGuire pitched a perfect ninth Saturday to get the save and help Lane top Linn-Benton 3-2. Lane is now 17-13.

Linn-Benton lefty and Idaho Falls product Clark Mckitrick struck out three and allowed one earned run over five innings in a 7-3 loss to Lane. Linn-Benton is now 20-10.

Also from Idaho Falls, Southern Idaho regular Patrick Greene scored his team's only run Friday during a 1-0 win over Salt Lake Community College. CSI is now 27-24.


Idaho Falls graduate and Southern Idaho outfielder Tyler Wilkinson had another stellar weekend a the plate, finishing 8 for 12 with five walks and four RBIs during a four game sweep of North Idaho. CSI is now 45-9.

Treasure Valley righty and Hillcrest product Cassie Wood picked up a complete-game victory Saturday with three strikeouts over seven innings during a 5-4 win over Big Bend. TVCC is now 18-14.

Track and field

Utah State standout and Madison grad Chari Hawkins posted three top-four finishes at the University of California-hosted Brutus Hamilton Invitational this past weekend.

Hawkins was second in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.09-seconds, second in the high jump at 5-feet, 6 1/2-inches, and fourth in the long jump at 18-6. No team scores were kept.

Also for USU in California, Blackfoot grad Michael Cardinal finished sixth in the discus competition (154-8).

Competing for Idaho State at the unscored BYU Robison Invitational, Skyline's Zach Havlovick was third in the shot put (47-3 1/2), Salmon's Clint Gosack was sixth in the pole vault (16-1 1/2), and Bonneville's Blayre Thiel was seventh in the pole vault (10-6 3/4).


Montana senior and I.F. grad Andrew Warren lost both at No. 2 singles and No. 2 doubles Sunday during the Big Sky Championship finals. One day earlier Warren won 7-6, 7-1 at No. 2 doubles to help complete a semifinal sweep of Montana St.
