REXBURG -- Upper Valley residents can resume splashing at Rexburg Rapids.

The municipal outdoor water park opens at 12:30 p.m. today. It will be open daily -- except Sundays -- through Labor Day.

"We continue to offer a fun safe pool experience that anyone in the family can enjoy," Recreation Director Bob Yeatman said.

To save costs, the facility is opening nearly two weeks later than it did last year. The facility finished about $40,000 in the red for the 2012 season due to equipment breakdowns and winterization costs.

No major changes were made to the water park this year. A volleyball net was added late last season.

Prices remain about the same as last year. The entrance fee is $5 for those 3 to 59 years old during daytime hours (12:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.) and $4.50 during evening hours (5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.)

A water slide pass is $1.50 during the day for those taller than 48 inches. The water slide is free in the evening. A non-swimming entrance fee is $2.75 all day.

The water park is now accepting group reservations on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights. Group rates range from $4.50 per person for groups of 20 or fewer and $2.25 per person for groups of more than 300.

For information or to make a group reservations visit www.rexburgrapids.com or call Rexburg City Hall at 359-3020.
