I.F. man guilty of rape

By Zach Kyle

Angel Blancas Lara of Idaho Falls will head to prison after pleading guilty to raping a 16-year-old girl.

District Judge Dane Watkins Jr. on Monday sentenced Blancas Lara to 10 years in prison. Blancas Lara, 41, could be eligible for parole after one year.

Blancas Lara was arrested by Idaho Falls police Aug. 24 after a report he'd raped the girl at an Idaho Falls house party.

Blancas Lara is in the country illegally, said Daniel Clark, chief deputy prosecuting attorney in Bonneville County.

"(Blancas Lara) will likely be deported to Mexico whenever the Department of Correction decides to release him from prison down the road," Clark said.
