Idaho Falls police arrested a 26-year-old man for aggravated battery Sunday after he reportedly punched another man in the face.

Michael Perez of Ammon remained in custody Monday at the Bonneville County Jail without bond.

About 1 a.m. Sunday, a woman waved down Idaho Falls police officers near Broadway and Shoup Avenue, according to a police news release. The woman told police an unknown man punched her friend, a 30-year-old Idaho Falls man, police spokeswoman Joelyn Hansen said.

The reported victim told police he thought a group of males walking down the alley called his name. When he responded, one of the males in the group punched him in the face.

The suspect was identified as Perez.
