EITC grad numbers are down
By NATE SUNDERLAND
The number of students graduating from Eastern Idaho Technical College is down this year.
The technical school will award 545 associate degrees, professional certificates and GED diplomas during commencement at 7 p.m. Monday in the Idaho Falls Civic Auditorium.
Todd Schwarz, administrator of the Idaho Division of Professional-Technical Education, will deliver the commencement address.
Schwarz is the former instructional dean for technical programs at the College of Southern Idaho. He has a doctorate in education from the University of Idaho.
Of the total EITC graduates, 232 will receive associate of applied science degrees or professional certificates, according to the campus registrar. That's a 4 percent decrease compared to the 2011-12 academic year.
EITC President Steve Albiston attributes the decreased number of graduates to enrollment reductions in several technical programs over the past two years.
The number of students graduating with GED diplomas dropped by 8 percent compared to last year, falling to 313 graduates.
