An argument between neighbors ended with Kristy Jo Meikle reportedly striking her Idaho Falls neighbor with a metal pipe.

Idaho Falls police officers arrested Meikle, 40, for aggravated assault Sunday.

The incident began around 4:30 p.m. on the 600 block of North Fanning Avenue. Meikle reportedly was yelling at the children of her neighbor, Marisa McWaid.

McWaid, 34, went outside and Meikle began yelling at her, police spokeswoman Joelyn Hansen said. McWaid's sister, Heather McWaid, 37, then went outside to intervene.

At that point, Meikle reportedly picked up a metal pipe and began hitting Heather McWaid, Hansen said.

Meikle remained in custody Monday at the Bonneville County Jail, where she was held without bond.

Aggravated assault is punishable by up to five years in prison.
