Idaho Falls shooting victim reportedly speaking
By Ruth Brown
Police continue to search for Fabian Hernandez, described as a person of interest in Sunday's early morning shooting outside the Shilo Inn Suites Hotel in Idaho Falls.
Hernandez, 21, is wanted for questioning, Idaho Falls Police Department spokeswoman Joelyn Hansen said.
Rexburg Police Capt. Randy Lewis said patrol officers have been watching Hernandez's Rexburg home. He reportedly has not returned home since the 1 a.m. shooting of Justin Mangum.
Mangum, 35, of Idaho Falls, was shot multiple times in the parking lot outside the hotel at 780 Lindsay Blvd. He remained in stable condition Wednesday at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center, Hansen said.
Mangum reportedly has regained his speech, but Hansen was unsure whether he had spoken with police investigators.
Hansen said the investigation is continuing and police have received some leads concerning Hernandez.
Hansen has declined to comment on how many times Mangum was shot, where the bullets hit him or what kind of gun was used.
She also declined to comment on how many people were present during the shooting, the reason for the shooting or whether any of the people involved knew one another.
Hansen also declined to comment on how long police officers stayed at the scene or how many witnesses or people at the hotel and bar were questioned by police.
Hernandez is 5 feet 6 inches tall and weighs 170 pounds, police said. He has brown eyes and a shaved head.
Anyone with information about the shooting or Hernandez's whereabouts is asked to contact the IFPD at 529-1200 or Crime Stoppers at 522-1983.
