Meth charge dismissed

By Ruth Brown

A possession of methamphetamine charge against an Afton, Wyo., man was dismissed by prosecutors.

Bonneville County Chief Deputy Prosecutor Daniel Clark said the charge against Layne Albert Fluckiger was dismissed Monday because prosecutors decided they could not prove the 40-year-old man was guilty.

Originally, police reported that Fluckiger was arrested with 13.59 grams of meth. But Clark said that figure included the weight of the vial in which the drug was held.

Further investigation found only trace amounts of meth in the vial. Prosecutors said they did not believe they could prove the vial belonged to Fluckiger.

A "trace amount" of a drug is the equivalent of less than .05 grams of the substance.
