I.F. drops road finale
In a final twist of irony, the Pioneer League's best road team lost its final game away from home Friday night when the Idaho Falls Chukars fell 8-1 to the Ogden Raptors.
The Chukars close the regular season at 24-14 on the road and return home 24-14 having clinched the league's South Division second-half title with a Wednesday.
Idaho Falls starting pitcher Jake Junis was clubbed for five hits, all singles, and three earned runs in the first inning. Ogden finished with 16 hits in the win, getting 10 hits and six runs in all against Junis.
The Chukars got two hits each from Hunter Dozier, Alexis Rivera and Dominique Taylor, finishing with eight hits in the loss.
Idaho Falls returns home tonight for the first of a two-game homestand against the Orem Owlz before opening the 2013 Pioneer League playoffs Monday against the Grand Junction Rockies.
