Rexburg man charged with assault
By CODY McDEVITT
Rexburg police arrested 26-year-old Christopher Armstrong for reportedly brandishing a handgun during a landlord-tenant dispute.
Capt. Randy Lewis said the arrest followed an argument concerning a plumbing issue and the lease agreement at an apartment at 227 S. Fourth West that happened between 8 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
The altercation reportedly escalated to the point of one of the victims getting knocked down and Armstrong pulling a gun.
One of the victims is the apartment owner's brother. Armstrong was leasing the apartment.
Armstrong posted a $10,000 bond and was released. He is charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon or instrument.
The maximum penalty for aggravated assault with a deadly weapon is five years in prison.
