Idaho Falls and Ammon city offices will be closed Monday in observance of Columbus Day. The holiday closure also means garbage will be collected a day later in both cities.

"That's the only city service that will be impacted," Idaho Falls spokesman Brad Huerta said.

Garbage normally collected Monday will be picked up Tuesday and so on through the week. Crews will finish the weekly collection cycle Saturday, when they pick up trash normally collected on Fridays, Huerta said.

In Ammon, crews will finish trash collection Friday, City Administrator Ron Folsom said. Ammon crews normally do not collect trash on Fridays but will do so next week.

The holiday will not affect the Idaho Falls City Council's normal meeting schedule. Council members are scheduled to convene a work session at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the Idaho Falls City Hall Annex. The council will hold its regular meeting at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 11, also in the annex.
