Idaho Falls police found a 42-year-old man passed out in his friend's vehicle Wednesday after he reportedly robbed and beat a woman.

Jimmie Hyde of Idaho Falls was arrested for robbery and attempted strangulation.

The arrest came after officers responded to a domestic disturbance around 8 p.m. on the 2500 block of First Street. The incident reportedly happened near the Taco Time restaurant.

Coral Wall, 40, was found at the location, but Hyde had left the scene. Wall is Hyde's girlfriend, police spokeswoman Joelyn Hansen said.

The attack began when Hyde reportedly punched and tried to strangle Wall following an argument in the car she was driving. Three male children also were in the car. Two of the children are Wall's sons, Hansen said.

Wall told police Hyde stole $200 from her and fled. He was found shortly after passed out in a friend's vehicle nearby, Hansen said.

Hyde remained in custody Thursday at the Bonneville County Jail. No bond was set.

Robbery is punishable by a minimum of five years and up to life in prison. Attempted strangulation is punishable by up to 15 years.
