Idaho Falls Police officers arrested an Idaho Falls man Saturday for attempted strangulation.

Skylar Lucero, 19, was booked into Bonneville County Jail after he reportedly choked his 19-year-old girlfriend who lives with him on the 1300 block of Suzanne Avenue.

Police responded to a

domestic disturbance call around 9 p.m., according to an Idaho Falls Police news release. Lucero and the victim

reportedly were arguing when she tried to leave. Lucero then grabbed her by the throat, the release said.

Idaho Falls Police spokeswoman Joelyn Hansen said Lucero was arrested at the residence. Hansen said the victim did not seek medical attention.

Hansen didn't know who called the police.

Lucero remained in custody Monday with bond set at $10,000.

Attempted strangulation is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
