Car chase ends in Ucon; man arrested
What began as a traffic stop ended in the arrest of a Rigby man, the Idaho State Police reported.
According to an ISP news release, the incident unfolded when an ISP trooper stopped a car for speeding at 5:28 p.m. Friday on U.S. Highway 20 just north of Ucon.
The driver, later identified as Kordell M. Stucki of Rigby, failed to cooperate with the officer's request for identification and fled the scene "at a high rate of speed and in a reckless manner."
Troopers pursued Stucki's 2006 Pontiac as he drove into Ucon, the news release said. "Stucki fled east ... into a residential area and pulled into a driveway in an attempt to hide from troopers."
After troopers found Stucki, he tried leaving the driveway but was blocked. Stucki then got out of the car and began verbally challenging the troopers before he was taken into custody, the release said.
Stucki was charged with felony eluding and resisting arrest. He was taken to the Bonneville County Jail, where he remained Saturday.
Idaho State Police were assisted during the incident by members of the Bonneville County Sheriff's Office and Ucon Police Department.
